Q: When are applications due?

Applications are due no later than midnight on January 8, 2019


Q: How do I submit my application?

All applications will be completed through the downloadable PDF, found in the ‘Apply Now’ portion of the website, and submitted via email to info@RSCBaltimore.com


Q: What if I can’t download the PDF application?

Please send us an email at info@RSCBaltimore.com for any technical assistance.


Q: What type of businesses are invited to apply?

We are mainly interested in retail businesses that are looking to drive foot traffic, but if you have a great and unique idea, WE WANT TO HEAR IT! The goal is to help a special business grow, and we are open to all possibilities.


Q: What if I am looking for a second or third location?

This Challenge will be a launchpad for new and growing businesses, not an additional location for an already successful business.


Q: Are start-ups eligible?

Yes! This Challenge was made for you! Is this an idea that energizes you and your community, but doesn’t yet have the capital to get off the ground? Are you creating out of your home? Have you been dominating internet sales, and craft shows but want a brick and mortar location? Join the Challenge!


Q: What if I don’t have a business plan?

The first-round application will not require a complete business plan. However, finalists will be asked to provide this. If needed, a business plan template can be provided. We suggest you begin working on this before finalists are announced.


Q: Are these properties for sale?

No, these properties are not for sale and will not be in the future.


Q: What happens after the first 12 months? 

Winners will set clear business goals within the business plan and will be evaluated against their goals by members of the Remington Community throughout the 12 months. This will determine if they have earned the additional 12 months.


Q: What happens after 24 months?

This is a pop-up opportunity with a maximum duration of 24 months. Winners will work with a large network in Remington and Baltimore City proper to find a permanent home for their successful business during and following this pop-up period.


Q: Can I visit the properties?

We are hosting an open house for Storefront 2, 2700 Remington Ave. Suite 1100, on 1/12/19 from noon-3pm. Storefront 1 will not be available for an open house.


Q: On what criteria will the applications be evaluated?

Challengers will be evaluated on their business’s unique concept and viability for Remington as well as their motivation, business plan, and ability to execute their plan.


Q: Who will review the applications?

The applications will be reviewed and judged against the selection criteria by a diverse panel of local business owners, community members, and representatives from anchor institutions in Remington.


Q: Is everything I submit confidential and who will it be shared with?

Yes, submissions will be confidential to be shared only within the Remington Storefront Challenge judges and administrative team.
